名人推介
Álvaro Castro is widely acknowledged to be the leading producer in Portugal’s Dão region, known as the Burgundy of Portugal because of the elegance of its wines. He makes a large array of wines from his two Quintas – Quinta da Pellada and Quinta de Saes – all of which aim at elegance and finesse, and expressing their terroirs to the full. Álvaro was a civil engineer before he inherited Quinta da Pellada, which dates back to the year 1570, in 1980. At the time of his inheritance, he decided to make something out of the estate and give it his full time and attention. Rapidly the enthusiasm for his wines made him decide to re-establish the old family tradition of winemaking full time. With white varieties such as Encruzado, Cerceal Branco and Bical, and reds such as the Tourigas Nacional and Roriz, Alfrocheiro, Jaen, Tinta Amerela and Tinta Cao, there are many possible combinations that enable Alvaro’s imagination to thrive. What links them is his blend of traditional and modern techniques, creating wines of balance and integrity.

Quinta do Monte d'Oiro Reserva Tinto 2010

年份(Vintage) : 2010
分類(Category) : Red Wine
產地(Region) : Estremadura (Lisboa) , Portugal
酒莊(Producer) : Quinta do Monte d'Oiro
葡萄品種(Grape Variety) : 96% Syrah & 4% Viognier
容量(Volume) : 75cl
酒精濃度(Alcohol vol.) : 12-14%

產品內容
"As with most of the 2010s on display here, this opens fairly mute and unimpressive, then keeps getting better. Tight, powerful and focused, it is also expressive enough to show off its Syrah nuances. In this group of releases, this seems like a worthy successor to the 2009 and holds up well to the pricier Syrah 24 also reviewed this issue. Granting that the vintages and styles are different, the Syrah 24 being the more elegant, this being a bit richer, there is not much to choose from. The longer this is open, the more interesting it gets. It fills the mouth without ever seeming thick or jammy. After two hours, it suddenly seems like a pretty fine Syrah. It becomes expressive and simply lovely. The 2010s are a variable vintage in most of Portugal, but there are a lot of nice ones and this most certainly proves a point. This is approachable right now, but you would be wise to hold it for a couple of years. It should age well. "- Robert Parker

酒莊簡介
Estate owner Jose Bento dos Santos, who is also Vice-Chairman of the International Academy of Gastronomy, aims to develop top quality wines with style and elegance, taking into account the unique association of soil and climate at the Quinta. The wines carry the Quinta’s identity, being very personalized, deep and complex wines shining with enticing minerality. Their unique robust character is a harmonious match with the gastronomy of both classical and haute cuisine. To achieve this objective, strict guidelines and procedures are followed during the whole production process, under the consultancy of pervious head winemaker of the renowned Maison M. Chapoutier in France’s Rhone Valley, Gregory Viennois: the vineyards are ‘manicured’ with severe pruning to achieve production in small quantities with very low yields and thus highly concentrated fruits. As Jose summarises it all in this quote, “The wines are imagined and designed respecting the personality of the terroir. Each wine, thus, has its own identity, always hiding a story, a culture, a legacy, and a dream.”

Luis Pato Vinha Barrosa Tinto 2011

年份(Vintage) : 2011
分類(Category) : Red Wine
產地(Region) : Portugal
酒莊(Producer) : Luis Pato
葡萄品種(Grape Variety) : Touriga Nacional
容量(Volume) : 75cl
酒精濃度(Alcohol vol.) : 12-14%

產品內容
"The 2011 Vinha Barrosa Vinhas Velhas, seen only in Portugal for a first look, is worth a mention because it seems like a big winner for Pato, better balanced than its 2011 Vinha Pan sibling also reviewed this issue, with better integrated acidity and beautiful structure. Also showing fine concentration, it does certainly have an astringent edge to it just now. That backbone is not excessive. It will support this wine well as it ages and improves. It should age beautifully, becoming more complex along the way. This could be my favorite Vinha Barrosa yet." - Robert Parker. To be dished up with red meats roasted in the oven as well as gamey meat without forgetting dishes with duck.

酒莊簡介
Luis Pato (Portuguese for ‘duck’) is the best-known producer in the Bairrada region. He is widely regarded as the modernizer who brought a struggling region back to life, but it is unfair to see him just in his light. Pato’s s wines have a traditional side to them, and he is also a champion of the local, noble red grape, Baga. Now that the regulations in Bairrada has changed, allowing growers in the region to use other grape varieties, Pato could be considered a neo-traditionalist, a forerunner and visionary of the heritage and potential of the region.

葡萄品種(Grape Variety) : Alicante Bouschet with a small percentage of Trincadeira

This has been the estate's most important label and flagship wine, since it sold its first bottle in 1954, and for which the Herdade has become famous. It is made predominantly from Alicante Bouschet with a small percentage of Trincadeira and vinified in lagares. It is aged in oak and mahogany vats of 5.000 liters capacity for 24 months and only released after further 24 to 36 months in bottle in our air conditioned cellars. Mouchão is a full, deep coloured wine with its concentration and spiciness of the Alicante Bouschet combined with the elegance of the Trincadeira and a tannic structure which enables the development in bottle for which it is so well known.

酒莊簡介
The fine, rolling landscape of Portugal’s Alentejo region, set between Lisbon and the Algarve, is dominated by cork forests and olive groves. In the early 19th century, Thomas Reynolds moved here from Oporto, chiefly to become involved in the cork business. Three generations later, his grandson, John Reynolds, purchased a 900 hectare property with two small rivers running through it - Herdade do Mouchão. In addition to the family’s cork activities, he set about making wine. Vineyards were planted and in 1901 he built a high-ceilinged adobe winery with white washed walls and a traditional red-tiled roof. A distillery was added to the winery in 1929, where until today Mouchão’s pommace brandy is produced. During the 1950’s, while the estate continued to produce cork, olives, cereals and to rear pigs and sheep (much as it does today), the wine business began to expand. More vines were planted, the winemaking improved and bottled sales began, replacing the old tradition of wine made purely for bulk sale to local towns and villages. Following the 1974 revolution, the estate was expropriated and only returned to the family in 1985. Today, the Herdade do Mouchão continues to be run by the descendants of the original family whose cellar and vineyard workers have been with them for generations. The process is, as it always has been, unhurried. The grape varieties are local, picked by hand and foot-trodden. In the ever-changing world of winemaking, Herdade do Mouchão, remains a traditional, family-run winery. The process is, as it always has been, unhurried.
