Grappa is exclusively the Italian aqu-vitae obtained through distillation of the marc. Grappa is the result of man’s desire to use all the goodness offered by nature. The use of what remains of the grape after the wine-making process is part of life’s natural cycle – birth, growth, consumption and death – where nothing is wasted.

The coming together of the two great families, Incisa Della Rocchetta and Jacopo Poli, develop a project with a strong cultural background and real understanding of what is meant by value and quality. The objective is to marry the histories, the passions and the expertise if the two families to create a new product and only one of its kind, which encapsulates centuries of culture and tradition.

The Poli family has been actively involved in the cultural promotion of this distillate for many years. It was from this premise that the project to distil a grappa which represents the spirit of a great wine was born, thus creating a balance between the produce of nature and the product of human efforts.

UNIQUENESS: The objective is to unite the histories, the passions and the expertise of the two families to create a new product, the first and only one of its kind, which encapsulates centuries of culture and traditions.

The Incisa delle Rocchetta family, that today produces Sassicaia, was an important figure in the medieval and renaissance history of northern Italy. (Incise della Rocchetta family is Italy’s noble family)

Mario dreamed of creating a ‘noble’ wine. Like most Italian aristocracy at the time, his ideal was represented by the great Bordeaux. After a number of experiments, he decided to plant Cabernet Sauvignon in the San Guido estate, as this part of land is very similar to Graves in Bordeaux.

A wine that had Cabernet Sauvignon as its primary component represented a radical shift from the traditional Tuscan and Piedmontese varietals of Sangiovese and Nebbiolo. The first Sassicaia was produced in 1948 and the 1968 vintage was the first to be offered on the open market. It was the first Italian wine to successfully establish itself abroad, and is universally recognized as the ‘Super Tuscan Pioneer’. Mario passed away in 1983, and his son Nicolo is now overseeing the estate.

Extra virgin olive oil is made simply by crushing olives and extracting the juice. It is the only cooking oil that is made without the use of chemicals and industrial refining.

It’s simply the juice of fresh, healthy olives which contains, more than any other grade, the health-promoting nutrients that olive oil is famous for.

Because of the way extra virgin oil is made, it retains more true olive taste, and has a lower level of oleic acid than other olive oil varieties. It also contains more of the natural vitamins and minerals found in olives.
