"Buon Padre", named after the restaurant the Viberti family bought in the early 20th century, when the Viberti wine estate was founded, is the representation of the classic Viberti house style.

Select parcels of three single vineyards, Crus of Barolo: Bricco delle Viole, San Pietro and La Volta, with a few others recently added crus contribute to producing the Viberti Barolo Buon Padre.

La Gemella in English is "twins". This wine pays homage to the mother, Maria, of the now 3rd generation winemaker Claudio Viberti. Maria is a twin and big Barbera fan. She is the real driving spirit behind the Viberti family.

Maturing of this wine takes place for 6-8 months in wooden vats. After a short storage in stainless steel the wine is bottled and reaches maturity in the bottle for a further 2 months before being put on sale.

Deep ruby red, juicy red fruit nose with clear notes of blueberry and earthy touches. The wine shows a great vibrancy and full body taste, long finish.

Preferable with cold meat and pepper hors d'oeuvres, pasta, pizza, white meat, ceasar salad, cheese and BBQ meats.

Barolo di Barolo

Viberti wine estate, located in the village of Barolo in Piemonte, was founded in the early 20th century when Antonio Viberti purchased an inn known as “Al Buon Padre” in the Vergne district of Barolo, along with an adjoining farm that would produce the wines served in the trattoria. The estate’s very first label produced in 1923 was the Barolo Buon Padre.

In 1967, Antonio’s son, Giovanni, became owner of the business with his wife Maria who took the role of head chef. A fan of Barbera, Maria became the winery’s inspiration into putting more efforts towards making Barbera wines, while the reputation of Viberti Barolo began to grow beyond Piemonte as restaurant patrons, who came from far and wide to enjoy Maria’s cooking, also began to buy the wines for their own private off-premise consumption. Today, under the direction of Claudio Viberti, the 3rd generation of the Viberti family and Giovanni’s youngest son, the winery produces varietally accurate, elegantly-structured wines with fresh fruit aromas, bold tannins, and vibrant acidity that are approachable upon release, yet reward extensive cellaring. Currently, Viberti’s 20 hectares of estate-owned vineyards boasting altitudes of 400-500 metres above sea level, are planted with Nebbiolo, Dolcetto, Barbera, and Chardonnay.

Crus Barolo di Barolo

Three of the vineyards are Cru Barolo di Barolo: Bricco delle Viole, San Pietro and La Volta, select parcels of which make Barolo Riservas in the best years. Recently, Viberti has added three more Cru Barolo vineyards: Terlo, Albarella and Ravera. These contribute to producing the Viberti Barolo Buon Padre alongside other crus including Fossati and San Ponzio as well as their three main single vineyards. However, as the vines age, these vineyards will ultimately produce single vineyard Grand Crus. Besides Barolo, the estate also devotes much attention to Barbera: The Barbera d’Alba Superiore Bricco Airoli comes from a strict selection of old vines while a Barbera d’Alba “La Gemella” pays homage to Claudio’s mother.
